PATRICK CANN is a classically trained theatre and film actor based in New York City. After enlisting in the US Air Force at the age of 19 and serving for four years, he attended Circle in the Square Theater School, graduating in 2007. In addition to his work in New York's off-Broadway and experimental theater scene, his eclectic career has also seen him take part in major television productions, and is now in his 20th year as part of the acting ensemble of the famous Metropolitan Opera, becoming a full-time member of the company in 2022. He has performed at the Met in more than 50 different productions directed by leading directors such as Sir David McVicar, Graham Vick, Bartlett Sher, James Robinson, Mary Zimmerman and Ivo van Hove, under conductors such as Marco Armiliato, Daniele Rustioni, Fabio Luisi, James Conlon, Daniele Callegari, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and many others. He has also taken part in historic Met productions such as Zeffirelli's famous La Bohéme and Turandot, G. Del Monaco's La Fanciulla del West, and Sonja Frisell's Aida. Patrick has expanded his coaching activities, focusing in particular on helping opera singers of all levels improve their performances through work on text analysis, movement, and stage combat.
